About my work
I grew up in Alabama and have spent ten years in California. The last two years have been in Berkeley, where I work out of a community studio for glazing and firing.
My pieces are made through a combination of wheel throwing and hand-building (coil, pinch, slab, solid forming) and tend toward organic, fluid shapes. I work in small batches, intuitively. The form reveals itself in the making. Each piece is its own exploration.
Weight, balance, and feel in the hand are considered from the start. Edges are smoothed, sometimes burnished, finished to invite touch and exploration from up close. Layered glazes, reduction fired to cone 10, build depth into the surface, letting each piece carry its own subtle character.
The kind of object you reach for. The kind you notice when it's gone.
